Greene County girls basketball had a rough week on the court, losing 85-15 at Gilbert and to #1 North Polk 85-16.
Gilbert 85 – Rams 15
Gilbert’s offense totally out matched that of the Greene County girls, scoring 85 points while their defense held the Rams to 15 in a very lopsided basketball game in Gilbert Tuesday.
At the end of the first quarter, Gilbert led 27-4 and were up 58-10 at half time. The Rams scored just five points in the second half while the Tigers added 27 for the final tally.
Brianna Habben led the Rams with eight points and five rebounds. Izzy Bravard had four points and Sadie Wilson chipped in three.
Ava Hawthorne was the leading scorer for Gilbert. Three more Tigers hit double figures.
The Rams made six of 38 field goals for 16 percent. Gilbert drained 36 of 69 for 52 percent which included 10 three-pointers.
The Tigers cleaned the glass with 39 rebounds while GC pulled down 19. Gilbert was able to make 22 steals to keep the Rams out of any offensive flow. Greene County committed 26 turnovers.
N Polk 85 – Rams 16
North Polk, the top ranked team in girls Class 3A, rolled to an 85-16 victory over the Greene County girls Friday night in Alleman.
NP raced to a 35-2 first quarter lead, increasing their advantage to 57-7 at halftime. At the end of three, the Comets were up 76-9. North Polk hit 10 long range buckets.
Sadie Wilson had six points, all in the fourth quarter. Natalie Heupel added four and Brianna Habben had three. Wilson pulled down five rebounds and Alexa Peters grabbed four.
The Rams made four of 28 field goals for 24 percent while NP shot 48 percent on 34 of 71 goals. They out-rebounded GC 43-22.
